Led by Pipe Major Lenny Browne, who hails from Ulster, the majority of today's band members are civilian with a nucleus of RAF personnel, ranging from the more established musicians, to the talented up and coming youngsters - all of whom have won numerous awards. Our Pipe Major is a full-time Voluntary Band Instructor at RAF Halton. Commitment to RAF Halton Pipes and Drums does not mean joining the Royal Air Force, or even the Reserve. It does, however, require the same commitment to competitions and jobs as any other Scottish pipe band. The Pipes and Drums practise twice each week at RAF Halton (near Wendover) on Monday and Thursday evenings. Pipers and Drummers of all playing abilities are always welcome to come along - expert tuition is always at hand. If you think you would be interested in learning, improving, or joining just pick up the phone and take the first step. Visits must be arranged in advance due to RAF security arrangements. Halton is next to Wendover, just off the A41 and M40. Other musicians would be welcome to join the Military Band that is also based at RAF Halton. If you would like to book the band or need a solo piper at one of your events, then please fill out an enquiry form. Alternatively you can download a leaflet (Acrobat PDF) all about the band.
